Don’t miss out on free money when raising funds! Many corporations have an employee giving program, often called Dollars for Doers or Volunteer Grants, in which a company provides grants to nonprofits, where employees and retirees volunteer on a regular basis. Here are three tips to make sure your Region gets more bang for your buck:
- Let your volunteers know. In the beginning of the season (and throughout the year) send an email to your volunteers letting them know that their employer may pay for volunteer hours. Don’t forget to send this link: http://moresoccerformorekids.org/employer-matching/.
- Make sure your Region is designated. Companies will send any volunteer hour checks directly to the National Office. To ensure that the money is routed back to your Region, make sure your volunteers designate your Region.
- Not just for volunteer hours. Many companies will also match donations made to a nonprofit.
